Geotechnical engineer Richard and environmental consultant eloped to Quiraing around the Isle of Skye, Scotland on 29 September 2021 for his or her magical humanist ceremony, enjoying a romantic picnic afterward within the breath-taking Fairy Glen.
Charlotte and Richard met through operation in 2013 and were engaged in March 2020. The Covid-19 pandemic encouraged the pair to plan their intimate micro-wedding.
"We both started working for that same company in 2013 and started our relationship in 2014. We still work at the same company, at opposite ends of the same open-plan office. We got engaged in Vik, Iceland on 2 March 2020. We both knew we wanted a brief engagement so started considering our options as soon as we returned home."
"We initially started viewing wedding venues with thoughts of getting a more industrial-themed big day. With the lockdown measures in position during 2020 and also the continuing uncertainty of whether weddings could be going ahead both of us started to consider other options. We understood that outdoor ceremonies in Scotland remained as permitted under lockdown restrictions and, once we both have desired to explore much more of Scotland, the Isle of Skye was an ideal place."
For the outdoor celebration, Richard wore an environmentally friendly wool blazer with tobacco-colored chinos along with a tie. His white shirt and his pocket square were from. For added warmth, he wore a proper wool coat and leather brogue boots.
"Richard wore some bespoke cufflinks from, commissioned by me. The cufflinks were produced from pieces of lava collected on the beach at Vik the morning as we got engaged."
The bride wore long sleeve wedding dresses have long, flowing trains.
"I was browsing feeltimes dresses and found my dress. I hadn't anticipated purchasing a dress by doing this but after researching the gown maker I chose to take the plunge. I knew that I wanted a far more ethereal dress, especially when considering the landscape, I was to be married in coupled with our selection of flowers."
Words of Wedded Wisdom
"If you're considering eloping, get it done! We had probably the most magical, laid-back day. We could drop traditions that didn't suit us and continue traditions that did."
