For some, 2021 was an MMO year. Others, however, have been yet another year of disappointment. With each new MMO that is released, players hold more tightly to Elyon Gold the days of old, refusing to believe that something new can be the same as what's previously been played. Elyon could become another victim of that idea; only the time tell.Since the brand new MMO launched, I've put around 20 hours of my time into Elyon and, so far, it's been a good time. But, only time will tell whether or not it's one that stays around or become a passing world to the game genre.

It's not been a smooth ride for positions with MMO releases in the past couple of months. Elyon's developer Krafton and its publisher Kakao Games had already announced the launch date for September 29 when Amazon Games pushed their release of New World from August 25 to September 28. What I see as an uninspiring move Krafton swiftly pushed the Elyon launch date back a month to October 20. The intriguing aspect of this shift was the switch from a buy-to play monetization model to free-to-play in an attempt to entice more gamers to try Elyon a try.

According to SteamCharts as of the time of writing, Elyon has just over 15.000 players which is an average of close to 10.000 since launch. It's only a tiny fraction of New World's current player count (506.000). The Elyon player count is just for the Steam version, however even when a double or triple number of players downloaded Elyon directly from the Kakao web site, it's not certain that the delay in launch and transition to free-to-play have had a major impact on player numbers. We'll have to wait for official word about the launch from Kakao and Krafton before we can be certain.

In spite of the actual player count, the Headstart and formal launch of Elyon have gone fairly smoothly in the case of at least the North American servers. I've never encountered any queues to get into the Cassiopeia server, however the third servers was put in the EU region to ease queues. There have also been some lag issues as the servers strain to cheapest Elyon Gold process World Events and RvR battles which is why they were temporarily disabled until the lag is addressed in the scheduled maintenance scheduled for the 27th.
