Tadalafil relaxes vascular muscles and increases blood flow to specific areas of the body.
Tadalafil, under the name Cialis, is used to treat erectile dysfunction (impotence) and symptoms of benign prostatic hypertrophy (enlarged prostate). Tadalafil is also sold under the brand name Adcirca, which is used to treat pulmonary hypertension and improve athletic performance in both men and women.
warning
If you are also using nitrate medications for chest pain or heart problems, do not take tadalafil, which includes nitroglycerin, isosorbide nitrate, isosorbide mononitrate and recreational drugs such as "poppers." Taking tadalafil with nitrate drugs can cause a sudden and severe drop in blood pressure.
Certain drugs can cause adverse or dangerous effects when used with tadalafil. Tell your doctor about all the medications you are currently taking, especially Riociguat (Adempas).
If your erection is painful or lasts more than 4 hours, contact your doctor or seek urgent medical attention. Prolonged erections (penile dyserections) damage the penis.
If you experience nausea, chest pain, or dizziness during sex, seek medical attention immediately.
If you suddenly lose vision, discontinue tadalafil and seek emergency medical help.
How should I take tadalafil?
Tadalafil is usually taken only once a day. Follow all directions on the prescription label. Do not take the drug in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended.
Tadalafil can be taken with or without food.
Do not destroy or disassemble Cialis tablets. Swallow it whole.
For erectile dysfunction, take Cialis before sexual activity, but no more than once a day. It can be used up to 36 hours before sexual activity. Cialis can help achieve erections when sexual stimulation occurs. Just taking a pill won't get an erection. Follow the doctor's instructions.
If you are taking Adcirca for pulmonary hypertension, do not take Cialis for erectile dysfunction.
Store at room temperature away from moisture and heat sources.
