There was way too much to write the story into words. Betwen both of them, Thrall has led an authentic life as a warrior. He spent most of his time taking his troops to the frontlines. Garrosh was just talking and sent his soldiers to serve at his command.

The people who created the cutscene did the scene this way because of the pay off from a writing standpoint. Thrall required to be knocked down before he could pull his ace. Hopefully, we were able to feel the satisfaction.

It always made me feel guilty for it to turn out like it did. I'm sure this wasn't taken as an obnoxious fanboy rant. It's just how I perceive it.

Thrall seemed to be avoiding the fight for the majority of the fight. He was trying to teach Garrosh the right way to behave, would have liked to beat him, but it didn't matter. Then Garrosh made the "this was your fault” issue and Thrall took him down with the elements and killed him.

I've always believed that the reason that the elements didn't react to him in the aftermath was not because "he did not cheat," like cheap WOW Classic TBC Gold so many people say. But because he abused the elements in his anger. He's still trying make sense of the truth to this day.
