Molecular Weight Marker
Molecular weight markers consist of a set of standard molecules with known molecular weights that are run alongside the sample of interest on the gel. By comparing the migration distance of the sample bands to the migration distances of the standard bands, researchers can estimate the size or molecular weight of the sample molecules.
