Moonstone is one of several different evolution stones in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond Shining Pearl. Evolution stones are disposable items and they have been an important part of the Pokémon series since they first appeared in the release of Pokémon Red and Pokémon Green. Each generation of games has Pokémon that can only be obtained through the use of Evolution Stones, and Moon Stones are used to evolving Pokémon more than almost all other gems.

Unlike Dusk, Shiny, or Dawn Stones in Pokémon BDSP, Moon Stone cannot be found on the entire surface of Sinnoh. Moonstones cannot be found randomly through the pickup abilities of some Pokémon, such as Pachirisu, and they cannot be purchased. This makes finding the Moon Stone more challenging than any other evolution stone, but the trainer will be able to get enough luck.

The earliest players can get Moon Stone in Pokémon BDSP after entering the Great Underground. The Grand Underground has many locations where players can dig out objects hidden in the walls. However, it is worth pointing out that these items are randomly generated. Explorer Kit allows access to the Grand Underground, which can be found in Eterna City after talking with the NPC in the house next to the Pokémon Center.

Pokemon BDSP: Pokémon evolved from Moon Stone

In Pokemon BDSP, only five kinds of Pokémon can use Moon Stone to evolve. Trainers can use Moon Stone to evolve Nidorina, Nidorino, Clefairy, Jigglypuff and Skitty. Unfortunately, until National Dex was acquired, only Clefairy was available. Clefairy can be found in Trophy Garden or Mount Coronet. After obtaining National Dex, Jigglypuff can also be found in the trophy garden. Nidorina and Nidorino can be found on the Grand Underground or by using Highway 201, 221 and Poké Radar on Valor Lakefront. Similarly, Skitty can also be found in Grand Underground and Route 222. Some Pokémon can also learn TM 46 Thief to steal Moon Stone from Clefairy.

Like Magnemite and its Metal Coat, Clefairy and Cleffa, the baby Pokémon that evolved into Clefairy, can both find Moon Stone in the wild. However, any Pokémon has only a 5% chance of holding an Evolution Stone. Some Pokémon can learn thieves and steal Moon Stone from Cleffa and Clefariy. After obtaining the Moon Stone, these are the Pokémon that each of the above evolved into:

Nidorina evolves into Nidoqueen
Nidorino evolves into Nidoking
Clefairy evolves into Clefable
Jigglypuff evolves into Wigglytuff
Skitty evolves into Delcatty
