While playing Diablo 2: Resurrected, if you haven't played the game before, you might be wondering how to save your progress – after all, the game doesn't really explain how to save your progress in the first place. Fortunately, this is due to the fact that there isn't really anything for you to be concerned about – Diablo 2: Resurrected, like the original game, includes a fairly robust autosave system that takes care of everything for you.

It is necessary to be aware of a few nuances, however. It is recommended that, when considering exiting the game, you first open the pause menu and select the 'Save and Exit' option from there. This ensures that you don't lose any progress made since the game was last auto-saved, which is very important. Also, did you know that the save data for characters who are online and offline is handled in a different way?

The save data for Online characters is stored on Battle. net rather than on the player's computer, making it impossible to tamper with the data. It also means that you will be unable to interact with those characters while playing offline, but you will be able to access them in other formats while playing online. However, save data for Offline characters is stored on the player's local hard drive. That means you can make backups of it if you want to, and you can still play it even if you don't have access to the internet at the time.

Maintaining these considerations will be helpful when creating characters and playing Diablo 2: Resurrected.

You are not required to wait until the 23rd of September in order to play Diablo 2: Resurrected. A small number of people were given the opportunity to participate in a closed beta just a few weeks ago, and those who preordered the game were given the opportunity to play it this past weekend. The open beta will take place between August 20th and August 22nd, and will be available to anyone. Anyone who owns a PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, or a PC is eligible to participate. Upon release of the buy Diablo 2 resurrected runes beta, all that is required is for players to download the beta and play through the game's second act until its conclusion.

The question that many players have when they have participated in any of the previous Diablo 2: Resurrected betas, or when they are planning to participate in the open beta this weekend, is whether or not the progress they have made will be carried over to full release of the game if they purchase it. After all, it's a shame to amass a large amount of loot and begin developing a character only to have it stolen from you.

It appears that the answer is no: according to Blizzard's FAQ, players will not be able to carry over their progress from the Diablo 2: Resurrected beta into the full game. Because of this, you may not want to invest too many hours into it because you will only end up replaying the same quests when the game is released. The open beta is an excellent way to get a feel for the game, so don't hesitate to participate if you're on the fence about whether or not to purchase the game.
